What should I be? Hmmm... HELP!?

I have been watching Law and Order SVU like crazy lately. I have always wanted to be an actress. My parents have put a lot of money into it. I don't have much intrest in it anymore. I want to be a dectective like Benson and Stabler. What exactly do I have to go to school for and is there such thing as the special victims unit in new york and does it deal with crimes that are on the show (similar i know the ones on the show aren't based off true stories) im not just doing it because it looks fun. I really would rather be saving people and putting 'perps' in jail then be on tv which will probably never happen haha. It's hard and once you are famous stupid stories are made up about you and you are in the news a lot. I just wana help. What should I go to college for. And will I have to attend the police acedemy? Thanks
